建築の新たな可能性を探り、レム・コーハース率いるOMAとC-LAB（コロンビア大学）が共同で発行する雑誌「VOLUME」の創刊号。「建築は建築を超えなくてはならない」をテーマに、コールハースをはじめOle Bouman、Michael Bell他多数の執筆者によって様々な角度から論じられている。また、付録としてAMOのリサーチで構成されたフルカラー80ページの冊子「AMO／History of Europe and The European Union」が本誌とともに透明なプラスチックケースに収納されている。
