今号は「Everything Under Control」と題し昨今の合成生物学がもたらす新しい創造と意味に関する論考、研究を紹介する。自然の有機物に着想を得たオランダのストラクチャリズム（アルド・ファン・アイクなど）の紹介や、研究デザインや建物だけでなく生活構造すらも根本的に変えてしまう可能性をもつ自然とデザインの関係を探る。

Now that we’re able to actively change the performance of living entities, and make use of living nature in new and fascinating ways, spatial design becomes a different game. A lot of ‘use and discard’ practices can be replaced with the creation of complete life cycles, functions that used to be performed by inorganic constructions (light bulbs and lamp posts) can be replaced with organic ones (light emitting trees). Different materials, different techniques, a different notion of what the power of design can be.
